Counterbalance forklift Training
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA require that anyone operating a counterbalanced forklift receive lecture style or classroom training. They additionally require that a supervised driving program is finished as well as periodic refresher training. There is no required minimum time for the supervised driving or classroom training. What's more, there is no frequency mandated for the refresher training either.
Counterbalanced Forklifts
The weight of the counterbalance forklift is utilized to balance its cargo using its own weight. The lift truck forks are in a fixed position but could be raised and lowered to secure and transport loads. The forks run parallel to the body of the forklift. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration require that individuals who would be operating counterbalanced forklifts on the job be properly trained on the trucks while being in the environment which they would be using them.
Classroom Training
Training either in a classroom or lecture style will offer forklift and operator information for the truck you would be operating. Most training will include several aspects like the weight and load capacity, height, how to charge or fuel the lift truck. It includes how to gauge the time on the engine in addition to any lift truck specific safety information including where to stand when walking around the truck. Either written and/or oral testing is part of the classroom training. There is no minimum time requirement for the training.
Supervised Driving
The operator of a lift truck will need to learn to drive the machinery while being supervised. The supervised driving needs to take place in an environment which resembles the present environment that the operator works in. This atmosphere should include the kind of terrain she would be traveling on, have similar surrounding structures close by, and the same pedestrian and vehicle traffic close by too. There is no specific minimum number of hours the driver needs to drive while being supervised.
