During the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case within Racine. He began building threshing equipment. The company later gained international recognition as the first maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the company grew to become the largest manufacturers of steam engines in the globe.
Case had established themselves in the construction machinery business by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machines including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland during 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the leading brands of agricultural and construction machines in the world.
