Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is typically located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that need tasks to be performed at heights which exceed other types of lifts. Like for example, employees can perform exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket normally just holds a single worker. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Under the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. Once the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these types of machinery must be directly positioned under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, provide bigger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these types of equipment, because they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used specifically for vertical work. Usually, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for certain applications and completing certain tasks.
