The lift truck is an important piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling plants. This great machine, the lift truck is made of numerous parts, including the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts normally have various types of attachments too. The following are a few of the most essential parts of a lift truck.
Engine of the Forklift - At the rear of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The different types of engine on the lift truck will require varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the forklift components is the truck frame. This forms the core of the machine. All other parts of a forklift are attached to the base, like the counterweight, overhead guard, wheels, axles and mast. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what enables the equipment to be balanced while lifting heavy cargo. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Some lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really many parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like the operator controls, steering wheel, seats, pedals, switches and levers. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
