The forklift is a material handling equipment utilized to raise and move loads from one location to another. Every part of a forklift has a particular function. Various parts can be used to transport the load either horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lift and lower the load. There are various kinds of masts used for raising loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.

Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located in the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is located in the middle of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated in the cab.

Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights located at the rear which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
