Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is frequently utilized. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and could make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
